Born in Salisbury, England, Young studied at the Royal Victoria School of Art, Worcester, England. He came to Canada in 1913, settling in Montreal, Quebec. Working in oil and gouache, he is known for his Quebec winter landscapes, particularly in the Laurentians, with old houses and farms. He was President of the Montreal Arts Club (1955-1956), and worked as a commercial artist with the Imperial Tobacco Company, Montreal (1913-1959). He exhibited with the AAMJ, MMFA in 1932 and 1951. Jack Young died in 1963 while living in Quebec.
