Vintage oil on canvas Herbert William Wagner 1889-1948 listed Canadian artist titled sketch Georgian Bay on the stretcher bar. The frame measures approximately 27” high x 23” wide and the actual painting is about 16” x 20”. This is a rather large work for the artist as most paintings are less than 10”. At some point this painting underwent conservation and a newer canvas was placed on the back of the old canvas (reclined), which can be expensive. This may have been done to stabilize the paint layer as there cracks in the paint from age, see images. Canadian school, Algonquin school, Group of Seven style.
