A faithful rendition in watercolour of a male Cardinal resting on top an unharvested cob of corn. Signed lower right  by the renowned Bobcaygeon wildlife artist Neil Blackwell, dated 83. Title plaque reads;

Born in London, England, Blackwell received a government grant to study at the Slade School of Art when he was only 16 years of age. He would serve in the British military and latter immigrate to Canada in 1958 at the age of 26. Here he began operating a business refurbishing pianos, but still continued painting in his free time. Finally in 1975, Blackwell was able to dedicate himself to being a full time artist.

Over his artist career, Blackwell has won numerous awards, such as;

  • First place in the choice award Canadian Wildlife Conservation.
  • Alabama state #17 1995 stamp, Canada Geese.
  • Ducks Unlimited Canada’s (DUC) Stamp and Print winner for the years 2000, 2004 and 2010.
