Antique Art Nouveau Murrle Bennett & Co. 950 Fine Silver & Enamel Pendant Necklace, c. 1905 (1 1/2″ x 31/32″)Description
This exquisite antique pendant necklace is a quintessential example of the British Arts & Crafts and European Art Nouveau movements. Crafted circa 1905, it features a stylized lotus flower motif rendered in fine silver with elegant, intersecting silver lines. The petals are decorated with vibrant, translucent guilloché enamel that shifts beautifully from a radiant turquoise blue to a soft, organic green. Suspended gracefully beneath the main pendant is a matching, partially enameled silver teardrop element.
The reverse of the pendant is clearly stamped with the purity mark “950” (denoting a silver content purer than standard .925 sterling) along with the coveted, intertwined “MBCo” monogram hallmark for Murrle Bennett & Co. Renowned for their high-quality craftsmanship, Murrle Bennett & Co. pieces from this era were frequently retailed through elite London establishments, including Liberty & Co.
