They settled in St Catharines, Ontario while Jim commuted to work as an artist for the Acres Group of Companies in Niagara Falls. He was an active member of the St. Catharines and District Art Association and The Escarpment Group of Painters in Watercolour. By 1982 he had been in numerous exhibitions, one man shows and had won 14 awards to that date. McConnell left a legacy of watercolours detailing the local Niagara landscapes and landmarks such as the Brock monument we have for sale. In the late 1980s the McConnells moved to Portnablagh, on the Northwest Coast of County Donegal. Here, Jim became an active member of the Londonderry Art Society. He continued to produce numerous watercolour landscapes of the region that are highly treasured by collectors today. Sadly, the artist passed away April 15 2016.
