En Route is a striking, atmospheric contemporary landscape by established Canadian artist Erin Robertson. Painted in 2010, the work explores a highly textured, luminous horizon using horizontal bands of earth tones, rich mustards, ochres, and muted greens, punctuated by a dramatic flash of intense fiery coral breaking through the center. Robertson masterfully balances a sense of industrial and natural transition, combining a glossy, resin-smooth sky effect with organic, textured brushwork across the foreground. A signature element of this specific series is the inclusion of deliberate, translucent paint droplets weeping off the lower-left edge of the panel, juxtaposing clean abstract lines with raw fluid movement.
The artwork is executed on a clean-edged cradled wood panel that requires no external framing, presenting a modern, minimalist aesthetic ready for immediate display. The lower right corner of the canvas features Robertson’s distinctive stylized yellowish orange monogram. The reverse side of the cradled wood panel showcases excellent provenance, retaining its original gallery label from Waterloo’s renowned Harbinger Gallery, alongside a typed cataloging sticker detailing the artist, title, date, medium, and 12” x 24” dimensions. This piece stands as a sophisticated, beautifully preserved example of mid-career Canadian abstract landscape art.
