This highly collectible 1966 cast bronze relief medal features a powerful high-relief portrait of legendary Hungarian modernist poet Endre Ady. Sculpted by the renowned Canadian medalist Dora de Pédery-Hunt, the piece beautifully captures Ady’s intense expression and artistic spirit.  Endre Ady (1877 – 1919) noted as possibly one of the greatest Hungarian poet of the 20th century.

About the Artist
Dora de Pédery-Hunt was an incredibly influential figure in Canadian art history. Arriving in Canada from Hungary in 1948, she went on to design over 600 medals, sculpture plaques, and official decorations. Most notably, she became the very first Canadian citizen ever chosen to design an official effigy of Queen Elizabeth II for federal coinage, which graced Canadian change from 1990 to 2002. She was a member of the Sculptors’ Society of Canada and an Associate of the Royal Canadian Academy. Her works are held in prestigious global institutions, including the National Gallery of Canada and the British Museum.
