Alexis Arts was born 1940 in Nijmegen, Holland and emigrated to Canada with his parents. His father was a noted artist in the Netherlands and Alexis obviously inherited some talent. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montreal between 1955 to 1960. In Eastern Canada he is well followed as one of the finest still life and landscape artist.
